With a variety of materials for preparing, shaping and sintering ceramics, the CTTC provides its technical and human resources to carry out the tests that you have defined:

  • Manufacturing or processing of a few kilograms of powder;
  • Testing of equipment or a process;
  • Prototyping and creating a pre-series;
  • Optimisation and “up-scaling” of a process.

Five steps are necessary to manufacture a part

1/ Formulation and synthesis of the material

Our synthesis and formulation laboratory enables the development of high performance materials suitable for every industrial use. The processes are implemented from powders or precursors in order to achieve the expected characteristics: granule size, purity, morphology, functional surfaces, etc.

2/ Preparation of powders

The shaping technology available on the CTTC platform requires raw materials prepared in the form of powders, granules, pastes or suspensions. The CTTC has the material resources and expertise necessary for this important step of the ceramic process.

The facilities are adapted to scale transfer (from a few grams to several dozen kilograms). Some of these processes can also be used for metal powders.

3/ Shaping

The choice of the shaping process depends on the ceramic part to be produced, its size, shape, dimensional tolerances and microstructural characteristics, and the number of parts to be manufactured. To comply with the requirements for each of the parts, we use various means of shaping.

4/ Heat treatment

We have a full range of furnaces with various capacities to cover a wide range of firing temperatures of ceramic materials.

Firing can be conducted under controlled atmospheres: neutral, oxidizing or reducing.

5/ Characterisations

The CTTC’s analysis laboratory offers a range of characterisation tools, specific to powders and ceramics. It allows investigations and control of all steps of the manufacturing process. This activity is carried out under the ISO 9001 quality certification.
